About the role

This is an exciting opportunity in the Draper Group in the Department of Paediatrics, for a Project Manager to support pre-clinical malaria vaccine projects.

The Project Manager will be a member of the Draper Group’s Operational team based at the based at the Dorothy Crowfoot Hodgkin Building in central Oxford. The main focus of the role will be to manage the day-to-day activities of pre-clinical malaria vaccine projects. The successful candidate will also support the Senior Programme Managers with a variety of administrative and project management responsibilities related to a research portfolio which includes a number of pre-clinical and clinical projects. The postholder will have a background in biological or medical sciences and administration and will take responsibility for a wide range of processes, sometimes of a highly confidential nature, on behalf of the Senior Programme Managers, interacting with pre-clinical lab teams, clinical teams and commercial partners and funders, locally and internationally. The post holder will provide support in a range of areas, including finance and budget management and scientific administration to ensure that projects are delivered on time and on budget and in line with funder and institutional requirements.

You will be working in a growing department within the Medical Sciences Division. The Department of Paediatrics is a world leader in child health research and hosts internationally renowned research programmes in drug development, gastroenterology, haematology, HIV, immunology, neuroimaging, neuromuscular diseases and vaccinology.

This position is offered full-time on a fixed-term contract initially 24 months with the possibility to extend provided further external funding is available.

This role meets the criteria for a UK Skilled Worker visa.

About you

We are looking for a motivated individual with a relevant degree in the area of biomedical science or a similar related field. You will be highly organised, have good interpersonal skills and be able to interact productively and collaboratively with other team members. Proven experience in research project management, good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential.
