Are you a people-focused and organised professional looking to work in a welcoming environment?

We are looking for part-time Receptionists to join our friendly Facilities Management (FM) team at the University of Oxford, delivering a high-quality reception and administrative service across our world-class buildings.

Reception Services is your pathway to a dynamic and professional front-of-house career across twelve prestigious University of Oxford buildings in the city centre. From the historic Oxford Martin School to cutting-edge developments like the Schwarzman Centre and the Life and Mind Building, our receptions are as diverse as they are distinguished.

About Us

Spanning the historic streets of the "city of dreaming spires", the University of Oxford has been ranked the world’s leading university for ten consecutive years. A place where centuries of tradition meet world-changing innovation, we offer you the chance to shape the future while working in an inspiring environment that promotes excellence.

About the Role

Our receptionists represent the University at some of Oxford’s most prominent buildings, providing a warm, professional, and efficient front-of-house service to staff, students, and visitors. With the introduction of our new Dynamic Reception Support service, you will play a key role in delivering essential reception cover across the University—stepping in where support is needed most.

This is a varied and fast-paced role where no two days look exactly the same and require the successful candidate to be comfortable with continual change. You might be welcoming guests, coordinating room bookings, issuing access cards, managing mail and deliveries, or assisting with small administrative tasks. You will also contribute to maintaining a safe and secure environment and may be required to train as a first aider or fire marshal.

As a valued member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work in different locations, bringing variety to your day and allowing you to connect with people from across the University. You will help deliver a seamless, polished service that reflects Oxford’s world‑class reputation, all while being part of a supportive community committed to excellence.

About You

A good understanding of standard administrative procedures, evidenced by work experience at a similar level.

The person appointed must enjoy working with people and have a competent, professional manner in dealing with customers, both face-to-face and by telephone and e-mail as appropriate.
