Job summary

Are you an organised and proactive administrator who thrives in a fast-paced environment? Do you enjoy problem-solving, managing competing priorities and working with a wide range of people?

We are looking for a Medico-Legal Administrator to join our friendly and supportive Legal Services team at Cambridge University Hospitals. This is a varied role supporting the management of clinical negligence claims, inquests, employer and public liability claims, and losses and compensation claims.

No two days are the same. You'll work closely with senior clinicians, managers, NHS Resolution, HM Coroner's Office, solicitors and patients, providing high-quality administrative support and helping ensure complex legal matters are managed efficiently and within strict deadlines.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop specialist knowledge within an experienced team while making a meaningful contribution to patient care and the Trust's legal services.

Main duties of the job

You will provide comprehensive administrative support to the Medico-Legal Managers across a broad range of medico-legal work. Your responsibilities will include managing a caseload of losses and compensation claims, supporting clinical negligence and employer/public liability claims, coordinating inquest documentation, preparing meeting papers and minutes, maintaining accurate electronic case records, and liaising with clinicians, patients, solicitors, HM Coroner's Office and other internal and external stakeholders.

The role requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage confidential information sensitively while working to statutory and legal deadlines. You will prioritise your own workload, respond to enquiries and contribute to the smooth running of a busy specialist department.

Job description

Please see the attached Applicant Information Pack (combined Job Description and Person Specification) for key duties and responsibilities.

As per Home Office guidelines, please be aware that, unfortunately, the Trust is unable to offer sponsorship for this particular position.

This vacancy will close at midnight on 23rd August 2026.

Interviews are due to be held on 14th September 2026.
