Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated, enthusiastic and organised Cancer Information & Support Assistant to join our team.
Working with the Macmillan Cancer Information & Support team and volunteers across our two Bolton centres, you will help ensure the smooth delivery of this important service for people affected by cancer. You will meet with service users to assess their needs, identify appropriate support and provide access to information and interventions. You will need to communicate sensitively and compassionately with patients, their families and carers, providing practical and emotional support.
The role is part-time, 22.5 hours per week, worked over three 7.5 hour days.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a highly organised individual with demonstrable IT and social media skills. You should work well as part of a team while also being able to use your own initiative and work autonomously. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with experience of supporting emotionally distressed patients. Ideally, you will have experience of working in a healthcare setting within the last two years. Knowledge of cancer treatments and pathways would be an advantage.
