Job summary
Part time - 21.30 hours per week
As a Band 6 Dermatology Nurse, you will provide high-quality, safe and compassionate specialist care to patients with a wide range of dermatological conditions. Using advanced clinical knowledge and assessment skills, you will manage patient care, deliver nurse-led clinics and undertake specialist dermatology procedures, ensuring care is evidence-based and tailored to individual needs.
You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care, supporting patients and their families to understand and manage their condition while promoting independence, wellbeing and informed decision-making. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will coordinate care, provide specialist advice and communicate complex and sensitive information with empathy and professionalism.
As a senior member of the team, you will act as a role model, supporting the development of junior staff and students through teaching, mentorship and clinical supervision. You will contribute to service improvement, clinical audit and quality initiatives, helping to enhance dermatology services and patient outcomes.
Applicants must have proven experience as a Band 5 Staff Nurse (or above) within Dermatology, with the knowledge and skills required to deliver specialist patient care. A commitment to ongoing professional development is essential, including a willingness to complete the Non-Medical Prescribing qualification and Skin Surgery course.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced dermatology nurse to play a key role in delivering and shaping specialist services for patients across the pathway. You will use your expertise to provide holistic support, influence positive patient outcomes and help drive service excellence through clinical leadership, innovation and continuous improvement. Alongside direct patient care, you will contribute to developing colleagues, enhancing patient experience and supporting the future direction of the service.
We are looking for a motivated and compassionate professional with specialist dermatology experience, excellent communication skills and the confidence to work autonomously. You will be a proactive problem-solver who can make complex clinical decisions, build effective relationships with patients and colleagues, and adapt to changing priorities within a busy environment.
