This is an exciting opportunity to facilitate healthy living initiatives addressing health inequalities within our service user population as part of the Complex Psychosis Pathway for Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for a motivated, innovative and enthusiastic healthy living advisor to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

The healthy living advisor role focuses on assessing, planning, and delivering healthy living interventions to service users to enable people to improve their mental and physical health.

We are looking for a practitioner who is qualified to a minimum of NVQ level 3 in an area relevant to the post (e.g. nutrition). Please note that we require the post holder to have a Level 2/3 qualification in Fitness Instruction and be CIMSPA registered.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work in a way that promotes positive partnership working between all members of the Complex Psychosis Pathway. They will have an excellent understanding of the principles of recovery and models and will practice clinically in a way that promotes therapeutic optimism and hope with service users.

The Healthy Living Advisor role will focus on assessing, planning, and delivering healthy living interventions to service users as part of the Complex Psychosis Pathway to enable people to improve their mental and physical health.

This will include physical activity, healthy eating advice, first line weight management advice (under the supervision of a dietitian), smoking cessation and brief interventions on drug and alcohol usage following appropriate training.

This will be delivered through advice and information for service users and staff, training and development for service users and staff, health promotion and physical interventions. The Healthy Living Advisor will encourage service users to access local opportunities and services, signposting people to activities which support health and wellbeing. A predominant part of the role will be to support services users in overcoming the barriers that prevent them accessing community resources around their physical health and well-being. Interventions are delivered face to face on a 1:1 and group basis with emphasis on the delivery of physical activity interventions, as well as healthy eating advice
