Job summary
Mitcheldean Surgery is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Salaried GP to join our established and welcoming team for 4 sessions per week, working Thursdays and Fridays.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will:
- Undertake a mix of face-to-face, telephone and online consultations.
- Assess, diagnose and manage a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.
- Provide safe, high-quality care in line with current clinical guidance and practice policies.
- Participate in clinical administration associated with patient care.
- Work collaboratively with the wider practice team and external healthcare professionals.
- Contribute to the continued development of services within the practice.
Job description
Job Purpose
To manage a patient caseload in a primary care setting and provide high-quality, patient-centred medical care to registered and temporary patients.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Conduct face-to-face and telephone consultations.
- Undertake home visits and visits to nursing and learning disability homes.
- Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients' healthcare needs.
- Develop care plans in line with practice protocols.
- Screen patients for illness and risk factors.
- Provide health education and counselling.
- Refer patients to appropriate services when required.
- Admit and discharge patients from the caseload.
- Review blood results and provide cover for absent GP colleagues.
Prescribing and Record Keeping
- Issue acute and repeat prescriptions.
- Prescribe in accordance with practice formularies and clinical guidance.
- Maintain accurate, clear, and timely clinical records.
- Collect audit data and contribute to clinical governance activities.
- Assist with patient record summarising and clinical coding.
Communication and Team Working
- Treat all patients with dignity, respect, and professionalism.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, carers, and external agencies.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary team working.
- Participate in practice meetings and service improvement initiatives.
Quality and Governance
- Support quality improvement and risk management.
- Comply with GMS contract and QOF requirements.
- Follow all practice policies and procedures.
- Manage workload, time, and resources effectively.
- Contribute to audits and evidence-based practice.
Training and Development
- Participate in mandatory and ongoing training.
- Maintain continuing professional development (CPD).
- Take part in annual appraisal and performance reviews.
- Support the learning and development of colleagues where appropriate.
