About the Role & you

As Team Leader – Maintenance Schemes, you will lead a team responsible for the development and delivery of highway maintenance programmes across Oxfordshire. Managing a team of technical professionals, you will oversee the planning, prioritisation and delivery of maintenance schemes and ensure they are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with contract, legislative and budgetary requirements.

You will provide technical leadership on complex highway maintenance matters, working closely with contractors, consultants, elected members and internal stakeholders to achieve the best outcomes for the county. The role requires a strong understanding of highway maintenance practices, contract management, asset management principles and programme delivery, together with the ability to balance operational priorities, budgets and customer expectations.

We are looking for an experienced manager and highway professional who can demonstrate:

Significant experience in highway maintenance, infrastructure delivery or a related engineering environment.

Strong leadership skills with experience of managing and developing technical teams.

Knowledge of highway maintenance legislation, standards and best practice.

Experience of managing contractors, budgets and service performance.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, using data and evidence to inform decisions.

A commitment to continuous improvement, innovation and delivering excellent customer service.

Your office base may be subject to change as we are currently transitioning between temporary and permanent office locations due to the closure of County Hall. If this is applicable to you, you will be notified, but no reimbursement will apply in respect of travel.
