An Opportunity has arisen for a Midwife Sonographer or Radiographer Sonographer within our Obstetric Ultrasound Department.
We have substantive Band 7 hours available for Midwives/Radiographers who have completed their PG Cert in Obstetric Ultrasound and have completed a period of consolidation.
An awareness of National Drivers in Ultrasound (Saving Babies Lives V.3) and the Fetal Anomaly Screening Programme is essential in the delivery of clinical care.

Main duties of the job
As a midwife/radiographer sonographer you will work autonomously scanning in both the antenatal ultrasound department and the Maternity Assessment Unit/ward 41. You will be expected to perform 1st 2nd and 3rd trimester screening scans and report/refer as per guidelines.
Multidisciplinary team working is an essential aspect of this role to ensure the delivery of safe harm free patient care.
The sonography team consists of both midwife and radiographer sonographers. We have an Obstetric Clinical Lead Sonographer available for support, guidance, teaching and development in obstetric ultrasound. This includes opportunities to extend your ultrasound skills in transvaginal ultrasound, external cephalic version, SGA/FGR surveillance and multiple pregnancy scanning.
As a Midwife/Radiographer Sonographer you will be part of the sonography team but will scan independently and report on 1st, 2nd and 3rd trimester ultrasound screening scans. You will adhere to the ultrasound guidelines and manage and refer in line with these guidelines.
Knowledge of safeguarding is essential to this role, escalating concerns appropriately. Exceptional communication skills are also required in this role and the ability to work with the multidisciplinary team.

- Assists with the training of multidisciplinary staff within the department.
- Assists with audit and research in the department.
Radiographer/Sonographer
- Assess and reports own workload in obstetrics and may be requested to assess and report on intra-abdominal and gynaecological fields.. Communicates results of the scan to the woman and arranges follow up care according to Guidelines when necessary.
- Assists with the training of multidisciplinary staff within the department.
- Assists with audit and research in the department.
