Job summary

Advert for Facilities Assistant (Primary Role -Domestic

You will have a primary role but will be required to work across different areas of the Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) service.

The role will provide a high quality Domestic, Catering and Portering service to hospital, health centre, and clinic settings within clinical and non-clinical areas.

Domestic Assistant

Working either individually or as part of a team in ensuring a clean and safe environment is maintained for patients, staff and visitors following agreed work schedules, methods and procedures. The post holder will be required to have a flexible approach and be prepared to work on other sites should service demands dictate.

Catering Assistant

To maintain a high standard of cleanliness within the Catering Department and to serve meals and functions to patients, staff and visitors to the Trust, ensuring that Food Hygiene Regulations and Health & Safety at Work policies and procedures are complied with.

Porter

The post holder will undertake a wide range of duties to include moving and distribution of supplies, linen, mail, waste, specimens and furniture as required. There may be a requirement for some minimal patient movement between departments. Will be responsible for liaising with delivery drivers and directing delivery vehicles onto Trust sites. Will undertake cleaning of clinical and non-clinical areas and undertaking some minor maintenance tasks..

Main duties of the job

To provide a high quality Domestic and Portering Service to hospital, health centre and clinic settings within clinical and non-clinical areas including:

Cleaning of sanitary ware, treatment rooms, waiting areas, office areas, kitchen areas, mirrors, internal glass, high and low dusting, washing of tiled services and paintwork.

Cleaning of crockery, cutlery, utensils, etc. either manually or through ward based dishwashers (as per work schedule).

Working either individually or as part of a team in ensuring a clean and safe environment is maintained for patients, staff and visitors following agreed work schedules, methods and procedures in accordance with the National Standards of Cleanliness.

Escalate issues appropriately and via correct escalation process.

Economic and safe use of cleaning agents following manufacturers recommended instructions.

Care and safe use of mechanical equipment eg floor scrubbers.

Replenishing disposable items, eg hand towels, toilet rolls, soap, etc and ensure correct storage of all cleaning agents and equipment and curtain changing.

Disposal of waste in accordance with the Trust Waste Policy.

Accurate completion of all required documentation to support specific service processes, eg Barrier or Terminal cleans.
