Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to help support and advise the cluster ICB and local GP practices. The primary purpose of the role is to provide specialist advice and support to the ICB and GP practices across the Integrated Care System on information governance and data protection matters.
Please note preference will be given to 'at risk' candidates.
Main duties of the job
Provide expert advice to the ICB and GP practices on data protection legislation, confidentiality and information governance requirements.
Provide support to individual projects and areas of responsibility, working closely with the Head of Information Governance providing a resilient and flexible IG resource to meet the demanding and variable IG requirements from the ICB and general practice.
Provide advice and monitoring on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and ensure that DPIAs are developed for all relevant areas. Provide subject matter expertise to support the completion of DPIAs.
Provide expert advice on the response to all IG incidents and security breaches, undertake appropriate audits and work closely with the investigating officer. Act as a subject matter expert for serious incidents that involve IG, ensuring appropriate action is taken. Ensure ICO reportable incidents are escalated to the DPO and SIRO within the legal timeline and critical steps are taken to protect individual's data.
Develop training and deliver the IG training programme.
Support the development of data sharing agreements and information sharing frameworks across organisations.
Develop and maintain constructive relationships with practices, IG, digital and cyber leads across partner organisations
Job description

The role supports compliance with data protection legislation, NHS information governance requirements and national standards, enabling practices to manage patient information safely and securely while supporting the effective delivery of digital services and information sharing across the health and care system.
The post holder will be a subject matter expert on Information Governance (IG) related matters. They are responsible for supporting the Head of Information Governance in managing the IG agenda across the ICBs and in GP practices enabling the management of information safely and securely while supporting the effective delivery of digital services and information sharing across the health and care system. They will provide expert advice and guidance to the ICBs on Confidentiality, Data Protection, and Information Security.
The Primary Care Information Governance Consultant and Data Protection Officer provides specialist advice and support to GP practices and Primary Care Networks across the Integrated Care System on information governance and data protection matters.
The post holder may deputise for the Head of Information Governance Manager as and when required.
