Job summary

Purpose of the role

To provide high-quality, compassionate clinical support to patients within the practice, working closely with the nursing and GP team to deliver a range of clinical procedures, health checks, and health promotion activities. The Healthcare Assistant plays a key role in helping Penrose Health deliver outstanding, patient-first primary care.

Main duties of the job

• Providing face-to-face clinical support to patients within the practice
• Carrying out core HCA clinical duties including blood pressure checks, ECGs, phlebotomy, wound care, weight management, and NHS health checks
• Administering B12, shingles, pneumococcal and flu injections/vaccinations
• Chaperoning patients in support of the nursing and GP team
• Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients' health and wellbeing
• Carrying out new patient health checks and other health screening
• Performing urinalysis and preparing specimens
• Undertaking long-term condition reviews where appropriate
• Gathering lifestyle data from patients
• Monitoring and recording vaccine and cold chain storage
• Maintaining accurate, up-to-date clinical records
• Supporting infection control practices and equipment management
• Promoting health and wellbeing, and supporting patient education
• Managing clinical stock control, including clearing and restocking consultation rooms
• Contributing to a positive, proactive team culture
