Job summary

Reporting to the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme Manager via the Lead Administrator, the post holder will assist in the provision of an efficient, effective and comprehensive reception, administrative and clerical service for the Tees Bowel Cancer Screening Service.

Using appropriate technologies and equipment, and taking direction from the Programme Manager and Lead Administrator where appropriate, the post holder will produce work outputs to a high standard of quality that meets the organisations requirements for Information Governance, RMS and CQC, and is in line with all policies, procedures and guidelines relating to the Trust and the Screening Programme.

The Bowel Screening clerical assistant is required to provide comprehensive, efficient and effective administrative and clerical support to the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme. The post holder will deal with the daily processes in ensuring patient pathways are correctly managed within the BCSP and Trust guidelines, and to act as a first point of contact for the Programme Hub and end users.

Main duties of the job

Provide a comprehensive administrative service to the BCSP Team and utilise clerical skills and procedures in order to support the effective delivery of the Screening Programme, whilst assisting the wider screening team throughout participants screening pathway.

Liaise with the multidisciplinary teams within the service and with staff from other departments and external service users, including General Practitioners, Programme participants and their representatives, dealing with queries in a professional and courteous manner consistent with legislation, policies and procedures, taking accurate written messages and passing more complex queries to the relevant person.

Ensure systems and processes are in place to enable national targets to be met as part of the national BCSP, following local and national guidelines.

Make independent judgements involving day to day administrative functions and prioritise workload on a daily basis.

Use efficiently and effectively systems such as National Screening software, Trakcare, Mediviewer, Medilogik, Mediviewer, CRIS, Health Guardian and any other end user software required for both clinical and non-clinical aspects of the role.
