Job summary
Do you have experience in the field of neurorehabilitation, wheelchair services, hand therapy or paediatrics? Come and join our dynamic team of occupational therapists and support workers providing high quality specialist spinal rehabilitation at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. The National Spinal Injuries Centre has a long history and is the largest of the UK spinal centres with 102 beds. The OTs are an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team and help to deliver the service including key working responsibilities. There are opportunities for ongoing education and to develop your skills working with experts in this specialist field.
Main duties of the job
Manage a caseload of patients with spinal cord injury and be responsible for the assessment, treatment and evaluation of these individuals.
Your patients will have complex presentations and you will need to draw on your years of experience in a wide variety of settings to ensure all interaction is patient centred.
Close collaboration with colleagues in physiotherapy is essential. Supervision of staff and providing education for patients and their families is key to this role as is liaison with community services.
You will be involved in departmental audit, service development and research projects as well as being involved in the management of the service on a day to day basis.
