The Role - Outreach Tutor:

As an Outreach Tutor, you will deliver personalised, engaging educational support to learners outside the traditional classroom environment. Working primarily one-on-one and in small groups, you will support students facing barriers to education—including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs—helping them build confidence, bridge learning gaps, and rediscover a passion for learning.

Key Responsibilities - Outreach Tutor:

Tailored Learning: Design and deliver individualised tutoring programmes in core subjects (English, Maths, Functional Skills) tailored to each student's needs and learning style.

Student Engagement: Build positive, trusting relationships with learners to overcome educational barriers and foster resilience.

Assessment & Progress: Conduct initial assessments, track ongoing progress, and adapt learning plans dynamically.

Creative Curriculum: Adapt resources and apply innovative, real-world teaching methods to make learning accessible and relevant.

Safeguarding: Adhering to safeguarding policies and reporting concerns promptly.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Maintain regular communication with parents, carers, social workers, local authorities, and partner agencies to provide holistic support.

What We Are Looking For - Outreach Tutor:

Qualifications & Experience:

QTS, a relevant higher education degree, or a recognised teaching/tutoring credential (e.g., Level 3/4 Award in Education and Training) is preferred.

Proven experience teaching, tutoring, or mentoring young people with additional needs or disengaged backgrounds.

An active Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).

A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for local travel.

Core Competencies:

Adaptability & Patience: Ability to pivot teaching strategies on the fly to meet varied learning speeds and behavioral needs.

Communication: Outstanding interpersonal skills to build rapport quickly with students and multi-agency teams.

Empathy & Resilience: A deep understanding of the emotional factors impacting a student's ability to engage.

Organisation: Strong time-management skills to independently balance scheduling, travel, planning, and reporting.
