Healthcare Support Worker - EMRU/ARUNHS
Job summary
The Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker plays a key role within the Acute Receiving Unit (ARU) and Emergency Medical Receiving Unit (EMRU), working across both clinical areas to support the assessment, monitoring, and care of patients presenting with acute medical conditions. The post holder will provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients during the early stages of their hospital journey, ensuring their safety, comfort, and wellbeing in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Main duties of the job
Working as part of the multidisciplinary team, the post holder will support the rapid assessment and management of medical patients by undertaking delegated clinical duties, including carrying out and recording patient observations, performing ECGs, obtaining blood samples, supporting diagnostic investigations, and recognising and escalating changes in a patient's condition. They will assist with the timely transfer of patients between departments and contribute to effective patient flow across both units.
They will work closely with Registered Nurses and other healthcare professionals to facilitate timely assessment, treatment, and ongoing care.
The role supports the provision of high-quality acute medical services by maintaining high standards of patient safety, infection prevention and control, dignity, and respect across both the ARU and EMRU.
