Mental Health Recovery Support WorkerCouncil

York, England 22.5 hours/week Grade 6 Level 1 - 4 (£29,331 to £31,997 per annum)
Posted 12 September 2026 Closing date 23 September 2026

We are looking for someone compassionate, practical and motivated to join York’s Community Wellbeing Hub at 30 Clarence Street.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a developing, multi-agency mental health service, working alongside colleagues from health, social care and voluntary sector organisations. The Hub provides a welcoming, person-centred space for people experiencing mental health difficulties, offering support within the building and out in the community.

You will work directly with people accessing the Hub, helping them to identify their strengths, build confidence, develop skills and connect with the right support. This may include practical and emotional support around wellbeing, daily living skills, social connection, independence, accessing community resources and taking part in activities. You will also help create a safe, inclusive and supportive environment within the Hub.

The role would suit someone who has experience of working with adults with mental health needs and who can build trusting relationships, communicate well, manage competing priorities and respond calmly to changing situations. You will need to be confident working as part of a multidisciplinary team, while also using your own initiative day to day.

We are particularly interested in people who are committed to strengths-based, person-centred and co-produced ways of working. Local knowledge of York, creativity, flexibility and a genuine belief in people’s ability to recover and live well will be important.

This is a varied and rewarding role where you can make a real difference to people’s lives and contribute to the ongoing development of York’s Community Mental Health Hub.

City of York Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment. We require the successful candidate to undertake an enhanced Criminal Record check via the Disclosure and Barring Service.

The Council is committed to investing in the talent and wellbeing of our staff and can offer a generous annual leave allowance, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, comprehensive Health & Wellbeing initiatives and a reward package which recognises your contribution. We can offer flexible working practices, community engagement and volunteer activities and, as part of our commitment to you, promote continuous Learning & Development. In addition we also offer a growing range of discounts, rewards and savings.

For further information or an informal discussion please contact David Harvey (Recovery Team Lead) at [email protected] or on 07720153820.

Closing date: Wednesday 23 September at 12 midnight
