Job summary
We are looking for a GP to work 2 sessions (9-5.30) on alternate Saturdays for routine and long term condition reviews, providing enhanced access hours for our PCN, predominantly from our Asplands site.

Appointments are longer and the surgery is calmer than during the week.

Main duties of the job
Weekend clinics are comprised of usual GP duties including face to face and remote consulting, conducting long term conditions reviews, planned routine reviews and proactive care. Appointments on a weekend are 15 minutes long and there is no current requirement for home visits to be done. The sessions are "by appointment only".
The GP will undertake a variety of duties governed by the GMS contract and objectives of Enhanced Services, including:
- In person consultations
- Telephone consultations
- Checking and signing prescriptions
- Dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence as required by weekend services
- Clinical administration including processing of results and coordinating referrals for specialist review
- Leading, supporting and advising the allied health professionals working in clinics during the clinic session.
- You may be the only GP on site so need the confidence and experience to cope with that.

Job responsibilities
- Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting patient problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
- Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
- Cover all the clinical management of the patients in surgery as appropriate including initiating investigations, reviewing results, making referrals to secondary care or to other providers as appropriate
- Develop care and treatment plans in consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols as well wider guidance such as that from NICE
- Ensure appropriate follow up of patients
- Record clear and contemporaneous computerised consultation notes to agreed standards
- Participate in clinical audits and learning event analyses
- Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
- Prescribe generically whenever appropriately and in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary, NICE guidance and Good Prescribing Practice (as defined by British National Formulary guidance)
- Work with and provide support for other members of the primary health care team
- Play a role in the PCN achieving key performance targets and safety metrics.

We are a 3 practice Primary Care Network covering around 30000 patients across 4 sites, varying from rural to urban, affluent to deprived populations.

As a PCN we have an active ARRS and frailty team for you to access, including Physiotherapy, OT, Mental Health, Nurses, Social Prescribers, Health and Wellbeing and Pharmacists.
The Saturday Service runs a busy selection of nursing, additional roles clinics and group workshops, but expect to be the only GP on site.
