The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Teaching Fellow in Chemistry to join the teaching team at Keele University. This 1.0 FTE position provides an opportunity to contribute to high-quality teaching across our Chemistry and Forensic Science programmes and to support an excellent student learning experience.

The successful candidate will have particular responsibility for chemistry teaching within our laboratory programmes, leading and supporting practical teaching across Chemistry and Forensic Science laboratories. You will help students develop their practical, analytical and problem-solving skills within a supportive, engaging and inclusive learning environment.

You will contribute to the planning, development and delivery of laboratory classes, tutorials and other teaching activities across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Working collaboratively with academic and technical colleagues, you will ensure laboratory teaching is effectively organised, safely delivered and aligned with programme learning outcomes.

The role will also involve supporting laboratory-based assessment, including the development and delivery of practical assessments, marking and providing timely, constructive feedback. You will contribute to the evaluation and enhancement of teaching and assessment practices and the development of new learning activities and materials.

You will provide academic and pastoral support to students, helping them achieve their academic potential and contributing to a positive student experience. You will also be encouraged to share ideas and expertise in the continued development of Chemistry and Forensic Science teaching.

You will have a degree in Chemistry together with experience of teaching or supporting learning in higher education. Laboratory teaching and assessment experience is desirable, alongside excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
