Oxford Full time
Posted 17 August 2026 Closing date 30 September 2026

Based at our Headington Campus and reporting to the Business Intelligence Manager, the Business Intelligence Analyst Developer will develop and support reporting and analytics solutions that help colleagues across Oxford Brookes make effective use of University data.

Working within the Internal Student Reporting & Business Intelligence team, you will work closely with colleagues across the University to understand their reporting needs and translate these into accessible, reliable and effective dashboards and reports.

You will take responsibility for developing solutions through the full development lifecycle, starting with requirements gathering and design through to development, testing, deployment and ongoing support. The role primarily works with Qlik Cloud and SQL, alongside the University's data warehouse and wider data and reporting environment.

The Internal Student Reporting & Business Intelligence team provides trusted reporting, data and business intelligence services across the University.

We develop and maintain dashboards, reports and datasets that support operational activity, planning and decision-making, working closely with colleagues across Academic and Student Administration, IT and the wider University.

The team brings together business intelligence, reporting and data engineering expertise, with an increasing focus on improving access to data, automation and delivering reliable, user-focused reporting services.

What will I be doing?

Working with colleagues across the University to understand reporting requirements and translate these into effective BI solutions.

Designing, developing and maintaining dashboards, reports and data visualisations, primarily using Qlik Cloud.

Taking responsibility for BI developments through requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment and ongoing support.

Using SQL and the University's data warehouse to analyse, validate and prepare data for reporting.

Developing a strong understanding of University data and business processes to ensure reporting is accurate and meets user needs.

What skills do I need?

Experience of developing dashboards, reports or other business intelligence solutions using Qlik or a comparable BI platform.

Good SQL skills and experience of working with relational databases and complex datasets.

Experience of gathering requirements from users and translating business needs into practical reporting or technical solutions.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate data and reporting issues.

Good communication skills and the ability to work confidently with both technical and non-technical colleagues.

An understanding of data modelling, data warehousing and the principles behind effective business intelligence and data visualisation.

Based at our Headington Campus, this role is hybrid, with an expectation of approximately 1-2 days on campus each week, depending on team and service requirements.

As an Oxford Brookes employee, you will enjoy a total of a minimum of 25 days holiday, rising with your service, plus 8 bank holidays and additional university concessionary days (normally 5 per year).

We have an extremely competitive Local Government Pension Scheme  with generous employer contributions, as well as providing all staff with access to an occupational health service, financial education, and a comprehensive employee assistance helpline.

We are committed to recruiting from the widest possible pool and welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates who embrace our values, regardless of their background.
