Job summary

A vacancy has arisen for an experienced and motivated Genetic Counsellor to join our Principal Genetic Counsellor team. This is a full-time position (part time will be considered) for a Registered Genetic Counsellor. The post-holder will be expected to provide an expert genetic counselling service in line with the job description and personal specification. This will include taking the lead role for one or more areas of genetic counselling, likely in rare genetic disease, prenatal, inherited cardiac conditions, and/or neurogenetics, to meet the needs of the service and applicants expertise/interests.

Main duties of the job

LCGS is based at Josephs Well, close to the Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) site in central Leeds, with easy public transport links. Although the majority of Genetic Counselling clinics are run virtually, some face-to-face clinics are held in the nearby LGI, and it is possible that additional face-to-face clinics will be re-established in district hospitals in the future if so some occasional travel may be required.

What you will bring to the role

As an experienced Registered Genetic Counsellor, you will have specialist expertise in one or more clinical areas, allowing you to take a lead in this speciality, including identifying and facilitating service development strategies to enhance patient care. As the role includes line management, you will have prior experience of mentoring and coaching in a previous line management role and/or through the supervision of trainee/student Genetic Counsellors
