Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic compassionate and highly motivated General Practitioner to join our supportive practice team as a salaried GP or with the view of a partnership. 4-6 sessions a week.

This is an exciting opportunity for a committed GP to play a key role in delivering patient centred care to our practice population within a close-knit rural community. Our practice provides an essential service to a diverse population, and the successful candidate will work as part of the multidisciplinary team, providing a wide range of primary care services and supporting patients with acute, chronic and complex healthcare needs while developing long term relationships with patients and their families.

Working in a rural practice offers a varied and rewarding role, with the opportunity to manage a wide range complex health needs. The successful candidate will work closely with an experienced multidisciplinary team, including GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice nurses, Health care assistants, and administrative staff, to deliver safe, effective, and accessible care. We recognise the challenges of delivering healthcare in a rural setting and are committed to developing innovative ways of improving access and responding to the needs of the local community.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties and Responsibilities.

• Provide comprehensive medical care to patients presenting with a wide range of acute and chronic health conditions.
• Access, diagnose, treat and appropriately manage patients in accordance with current clinical guidelines and best practice.
• Conduct face -to -face consultations, Accurx and telephone consultations.
• Undertake home visits when clinically necessary and in accordance with practice arrangements.
• Prescribe safely and appropriately in accordance with local and national guidelines.
• Review test results, correspondence and other clinical information requiring GP action.
• Provide health promotion, disease prevention and lifestyle advice to patients.
• Recognise and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns involving children and adults.
• Work collaboratively with GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, practice nurses, health care assistants, administrative staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Maintain registration and license to practice with the GMC.

The post holder will:

• Provide comprehensive general medical services to registered patients.
• Undertake face-to-face, telephone and Accurx consultations.
• Assess, diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
• Develop and implement appropriate treatment and management plans.
• Provide appropriate follow up and continuity of care.
• Prescribe safely and appropriately in accordance with current guidelines.
• Arrange investigations, referrals and follow up where clinically indicated.
• Review and action laboratory results results, clinical correspondence and investigation reports.
• Undertake home visits where clinically appropriate.
• Participate in the practice clinical and appointment system.
• Provide appropriate health promotion and preventative healthcare advice.
• Recognise and appropriately manage safeguarding concerns.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical records.
• Participate in clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintain professional competence through continual professional development.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with information governance requirement
