An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Planning Officer to join the Development Management team, on a fixed term contract until March 2028.
We are looking for a highly motivated person with proven experience in Development Management, ideally with substantive experience in Planning Enforcement.
You will be an enthusiastic and proactive individual with the proven ability to work both individually and as part of a team. Your primary focus will be the processing of a large and varied caseload of Enforcement investigations in an efficient, professional, and timely manner, in line with statutory timelines. You will also be required to prepare appeal statements, present evidence at hearings, inquiries and court proceedings.
You will be an experienced planning professional with a Degree or equivalent in Town Planning or a related discipline, ideally have RTPI Membership (or is otherwise willing to apply), and should have excellent knowledge of planning enforcement legislation, caselaw, policy, and practice.
Candidates must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and be highly computer literate. The ability to travel throughout the county is an essential requirement of the post, as is very occasional working outside of normal working hours.
This role offers flexible working options for a work life balance. This can include adjusting your working day and hybrid working, ie a balance of office and home working.
