Are you a motivated professional who is passionate about supporting people who need support to sustain their tenancy?
Harlow Council is on a mission to transform Harlow’s housing. As a Tenancy Support Officer, you will help tenants sustain their council tenancy and live independently by providing practical support, early intervention and signposting to specialist services where needed.
We are looking for a Tenancy Support Officer to join our team and support vulnerable customers to sustain their council tenancies and live independently. You will work closely with internal colleagues, external agencies and the Housing Management team to provide high-quality support, deliver excellent customer care and signpost tenants to other services where appropriate.
You will support tenants to avoid breaches of their tenancy conditions, including helping them address rent arrears, maximise benefits and resolve other housing-related issues.
A good working knowledge of housing management, experience in social housing or the voluntary sector, and a qualification in housing or a related subject would be advantageous. Experience of working with vulnerable people and a clear understanding of equality issues in service delivery are also important for this role.
You will possess excellent people skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically at all levels, and have a proactive and solution focused approach to problem solving. You will also have good administration and IT skills and be able to work effectively within a pressurised, customer focused environment.
You will need to be available to work or attend meetings outside normal working hours. A driving licence and access to a car, or another satisfactory means of transport, is required for this post. This post is subject to a full Disclosure and Barring Service check.
