What is Shared Lives?

 

Shared Lives is a unique care model where individuals seeking support are matched with carers who welcome them into their homes and daily lives. This arrangement can be long-term, a short breaks, or day support, fostering a family-like environment and promoting independence.

 

Role of a Shared Lives Carer

 

As a Shared Lives carer, you will:

 

  • Provide Personal Support: Assist with daily activities such as washing, eating, and mobility.
  • Offer Emotional Support: Encourage and support individuals in building confidence and pursuing their goals.
  • Facilitate Community Engagement: Help individuals participate in community activities, fostering social connections.
  • Promote wellbeing: support individuals to live in an environment that develops independence and recovery.
