Job summary

An exciting opportunity for a newly qualified or existing Band 5 Occupational Therapist with a genuine interest in working with children. Initially clinic-based, with opportunities to develop a community caseload as competencies grow. The role includes assessing coordination, daily living skills, child development, postural needs, and prescribing specialist equipment. You will support children with physical disabilities, developmental coordination disorder, cerebral palsy, developmental delay, and genetic conditions, alongside autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities. Opportunities for rotational development across local paediatric OT services within the Trust are anticipated.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide high-quality paediatric occupational therapy assessment, treatment and intervention for children and young people across a range of settings.
  • Manage a caseload independently with clinical supervision, develop and implement care plans, assess and recommend specialist equipment, support functional participation, and work collaboratively with families, schools and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Contribute to service development, training, EHCP assessments, safeguarding, governance and evidence-based practice while ensuring safe, effective and child-centred care.

Job description

  • Assess childrens functional, motor and coordination needs; deliver occupational therapy programmes; prescribe specialist equipment; develop care plans and monitor outcomes.
  • Work in clinics, schools, homes and community settings.
  • Train and support parents, school staff, therapy assistants and students.
  • Complete EHCP reports and statutory documentation, maintain accurate records, communicate with partner agencies, and manage workload effectively.
  • Participate in audits, research, service improvement, supervision and professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with HCPC standards, safeguarding, confidentiality, health and safety, infection control and Trust policies.
