Job summary
We are looking for an empathetic, resilient and organised individual to join our fast-paced reception and administration department to support the efficient day-to-day running of our practice, and care of our patients.
The role requires a flexible approach and somebody that thrives in an extremely busy and care focused environment.
You will need to be able to manage your own workload and also work as part of a team.
Experience of working in a GP Practice or NHS setting is desirable but full training will be given.
The position is full time (37.5 hours a week), worked Monday - Friday, and comprises a variety of early and late shifts as below:
- Early shift: 08:00 - 16:00
- Later shift: 10:30 - 18:30
Main duties of the job
- Managing and triaging all patient queries both over the phone, online and on our busy front desk
- Liaising with other healthcare/social care departments with regards to our patients
- Utilising our clinical systems to keep accurate medical records for our patients
- Actioning requests from our clinical team to support patient care
Job description
- Answering incoming calls from patients and any other third parties (e.g. pharmacies, hospital, nursing homes)
- Dealing directly with patient and all other visitor queries on the front reception desk
- Using PACO our online consultation tool to triage patients and book the appropriate appointment for them
- Monitoring and replying to all enquiries sent to the Practice email
- Dealing with a wide variety of patient queries e.g. appointments, prescriptions, results, referrals and lab tests
- Booking appointments for patients and considering demand and patient need in order to do this effectively e.g. home visits, telephone consultations
- Making phone calls on behalf of clinicians e.g. asking patients to make an appointment to see the GP to discuss blood results
- Inputting appropriate coding and clinical data onto patient notes e.g. diagnoses, hospital admissions
- Effectively utilising the various practice clinical systems
