Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified and experienced HCA to join our nursing team. We can be flexible with the hours and the days of the week but looking for minimum of 15 hours per week. The purpose of this role is to:
Work as part of a team to meet its agreed aims and objectives within an efficient, safe and effective working environment, ensuring that services are meeting the needs of its registered patients and all regulatory requirements
Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by the Practice Nurse and GPs

Job description
Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, and recording findings accurately
- support annual reviews checks for chronic diseases e.g hypertension, diabetes, asthma etc
- Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring
- Carry out ECGs
- Carry out BMI checks and provide weight management advice
- Administer Blood Tests
- Carry out Spirometry tests
- Intramuscular injections under PSD
- Undertake wound care and carry out simple dressings
- Removal of sutures
- Undertake NHS Health Check
- Processing of samples e.g. urine
- Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
- Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
- Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy
- Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording including weekly data loggers
- Medical equipment and vaccine ordering, stocking control and rotation
- Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions, including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations, coil fits and contraceptive implant fitting
- Act as a chaperone as required
- Participating in administrative tasks to support the practice in meeting QOF targets
- Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Practice Nurse or Practice Business Manager.
