Bank Supply and Delivery OperativeNHS
Job summary
Join the Supply and Delivery Service
This is an exciting time to join the Trust's Supply and Delivery Service. Our team ensures crews have the consumables, equipment and medicines needed to provide patient care across the Trust.
We have recently introduced a stock scanning system at stations and Trust sites, improving stock control and reducing the time crews spend ordering supplies. We continue to develop the service to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
About the role
As a Bank Supply and Delivery Operative, you will support the day-to-day running of the service through stock management, deliveries, collections and other duties as required.
This role offers valuable experience within the Trust, helping you develop an understanding of support services and how they contribute to frontline operations and patient care. It can also provide opportunities to progress within Supply and Delivery or explore other roles across the organisation.
About the bank contract
This is a zero-hours bank contract, with hours offered according to service needs.
When shifts become available, bank staff will be contacted to confirm availability before duties are allocated. The flexibility of the role makes it ideal for fitting work around other commitments while gaining experience within the Trust.
If you are reliable, organised, adaptable and work well as part of a team, we would welcome your application.
Main duties of the job
Working as part of the Supply and Delivery team, you will help ensure Trust sites receive the supplies and equipment they need to operate effectively. This includes processing orders, checking deliveries, issuing stock and keeping inventory records accurate and up to date. You will also support stocktakes and reconciliations, investigating any differences and helping the team maintain an efficient and cost-effective approach to stockholding and distribution.
A key part of the role involves preparing and delivering goods across Trust locations and ambulance stations. Deliveries may range from medical supplies and medicines to post, patient clinical records and sensitive IT or communications equipment. You will plan practical routes, complete the necessary vehicle and journey records, and take responsibility for keeping all items safe, secure and confidential while in transit.
Where appropriately authorised, you may also collect, handle and distribute Morphine Sulphate, as well as support the safe disposal and recording of out-of-date medicines in line with legal and Trust requirements.
Alongside these responsibilities, you will respond to enquiries, assist with project work and help maintain the delivery vehicle. You will provide cover for the Supply and Delivery Controller when required, ensuring the service continues to run smoothly.
