At Lift Plumberow, we're looking for a teaching assistant to join our team. This is a chance to work in partnership with teachers to improve learning and help students access the curriculum, participate fully in lessons, and experience a real sense of achievement. You'll support students so they can reach their potential while promoting their independence, self-esteem and social inclusion.

If you're ambitious and eager to grow, we can support you through our Level 3 and Level 5 teaching assistant apprenticeships and our Initial Teacher Training programme. This role makes a real difference every day.

About the role

As a teaching assistant, you'll work closely with teachers to understand students' learning needs and help them achieve their learning objectives. You'll build positive relationships with students, support their wellbeing, and help create a stimulating and safe learning environment where every child can thrive.

If you're employed for 20 hours or more per week and don't already hold a Level 3 teaching assistant qualification (or equivalent), we'll enrol you onto our Level 3 Initial Teaching Assistant Training programme during your time with us.

Key responsibilities

You will:

develop an understanding of students' learning needs, including specific SEND needs, to help them access lesson content and achieve learning objectives;

work in partnership with teachers to plan and assess high-quality lessons, and help students develop independent learning skills;

guide individual and small group targeted interventions within clearly defined parameters;

build positive relationships with students and consistently apply our behaviour policy;

collaborate with teaching staff, pastoral staff, the SENDCO and parents or carers to support all students' learning; and

support teachers to prepare teaching resources that meet the diverse needs and interests of students.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who:

holds GCSE maths and English (Grade 4+) or equivalent, or is willing to work towards English or maths functional skills qualifications;

has good communication and interpersonal skills;

is patient, empathetic and able to relate to students on a personal level;

works collaboratively with colleagues as a trusted team member, understanding their role within the classroom;

is reflective, aware of their own strengths and areas for development, and willing to seek feedback; and

is resilient when faced with challenging situations and able to manage these professionally.

You don't need previous experience working in a school, though this would be desirable. We're looking for people who are curious, open to new ideas, and committed to promoting the welfare and safeguarding of children and young people. Could this be you?
