All about the Role

This is not a term time only post.

We're looking for someone energetic, kind, and enthusiastic to join our team working with adults who have learning disabilities at our Day Opportunities service in Bretton.

Your job will be to support people to build confidence, learn new skills, and enjoy their day. You'll help them take part in fun and meaningful activities and support them to be as independent as possible.

You'll help plan and run activities both at the centre and out in the community. These might include:

Cooking, music, arts and crafts

Sports and fitness activities like boxing, cycling, and sailing

You'll support people by encouraging independence, listening to what they want, and making sure they feel respected and included.

All about our Team

Forward Steps is a friendly day service based at The Kingfisher Centre in Bretton.

We support people during the day to:

Try new things

Build independence and confidence

Make friends and have fun

People usually take part in activities in small groups, based on their interests and goals. We focus on creating positive experiences, happy memories, and a place where everyone feels welcome.

All about You

You don't need to know everything already, but it's important that you:

Are caring, patient, and respectful

Understand that people with learning disabilities and autism may need different types of support

Are happy to help with personal care when needed

Can work well as part of a team or on your own

Have the right to work in the UK

You should also:

Feel confident talking to people and working with different professionals

Be able to use a computer for basic tasks like writing notes

Be willing to help people use our transport

Use your initiative and stay calm in different situations

Most importantly, you should enjoy helping others, have a positive attitude, and be willing to learn.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive a sufficient number of applications, so we encourage you to apply early.

All about our Commitments

We are proud to be an equal opportunities employer, dedicated to fostering diversity, advancing equity, and building an inclusive workplace for everyone. We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds and particularly encourage those from underrepresented groups, including disabled people, care leavers, and individuals from minority ethnic communities. Your unique perspectives and experiences are encouraged and valued and will play a vital role in our success.

We are committed to making our recruitment process as accessible as possible. If you are disabled and require any reasonable adjustments during the application or interview process, please contact [email protected]  we will work with you to meet your needs.

If you've already applied and completed the recruitment process for this position within the last three months, there's no need to reapply. We really appreciate your interest and thank you for considering us.
