Hours of work

Hours are expected to be between 6 and 8 hours a week.

Some out of hours support may be required.

About the recipient

The individual is female, 15 years old and resides in Kirk Ella. They require a dedicated and suitable person to support them due to having ADHD, Autism and a Learning Disability.

This is to take place predominantly in the home with hope to build up to outings and activities in the local community when she feels confident to do so.

They enjoy being outside in the garden with their dog and playing on the trampoline. She is interested in music, making videos and social media.

Ideally the worker should have knowledge of working with children with additional complex needs and should be approachable and confident in working with young people. The worker will also need to be flexible and understand that the day’s activities may be led by how the young person is feeling.

About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Assisting the individual with accessing activities and spending time out in the community when the young person feels confident to do so.

Attending/transporting the individual to social activities when the young person feels confident to do so.

Encouraging social interaction and inclusion and providing emotional support.

About the candidate

The suitable candidate must:

Be motivated, proactive and able to work on their own initiative.

Be patient, caring and understanding.

Have good communication skills (clear and effective communication).

Be able to build a positive relationship with the individual to both encourage and support them.

Have previous experience supporting an individual with additional needs.

Be flexible to accommodate the hours of work where necessary.

Must have use of own car, to transport individual to social activities

Be comfortable with animals to assist with the individual's dog.

DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post - Cost to be met by the local authority.
