Job summary

We are now seeking an exceptional Deputy Chief Executive to join our leadership team in a rare opportunity to step into a broad and significant leadership position, with the ability to shape the future direction of DBTH and our wider systems in both South Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire. Regularly deputising for our Chief Executive, you will work with the board to deliver our vision: Healthier Together - delivering exceptional healthcare for all, leading a broad portfolio including strategy, transformation, improvement, partnerships, and place-based working.

We are seeking an exceptional executive leader with significant experience at board level and a track record of strategic leadership, performance improvement, and organisational change gained within complex NHS environments. Politically astute, inclusive and highly collaborative, you will quickly build trusted relationships across organisational and system boundaries. You will be comfortable leading through complexity and ambiguity, with the personal credibility, authenticity, and influence to inspire confidence in our workforce, our board and our partners. Above all, you will be passionate about improving outcomes for patients, reducing health inequalities and will role model the DBTH Way as we strive to realise our vision for the future.

Main duties of the job

Comfortable in leading at system level, you will work with partners across our two ICBs to strengthen our contribution as an anchor institution, to the neighbourhood agenda and to our provider collaboratives. Internally you will provide visible leadership and empower colleagues to accelerate the modernisation of our services; improving outcomes and reducing health inequalities for our communities.

You will be a voting Executive Director on the Board, responsible for working with the CEO, Executive team and Senior Leadership Team to develop the Trust's strategy and plans, as well as making sure that effective performance management systems are in place to ensure that the associated goals and objectives are delivered. Together with the CEO, you will work closely with the South Yorkshire and Nottingham & Nottinghamshire Integrated Care Systems (ICS), Doncaster and Bassetlaw Places, South Yorkshire Acute Federation and Nottinghamshire Collaborative colleagues to deliver the ICS, Place and Partnership Strategies. Contributing to the development and implementation of robust plans to achieve this across the local health and care systems.

Specifically, the Deputy CEO will be the lead Executive for strategic planning and Partnerships, and the lead Executive Director for Corporate Governance, with oversight of corporate risk management processes and ensuring effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
