This is an exciting time to join our Elective team as a Relief ward clerk, This role is varied and at times extremely busy, the role will cover ward colleagues whilst they are on leave and at other times cover sickness.
Our promise to you is, that you will have all the training and support needed to fulfil this role , this role can be challenging, you will need to be able to multi-task, juggle tasks and prioritize your own work load, you are the first point of contact for our patients when they arrive on the ward and the ward staffs go to when they need help with any admin needs etc.,
Successful applicants will ideally have previous IT and administration experience, but most of all a sense of humor and a willingness to be part of our team here at the JPUH
Main duties of the job
As a relief ward clerk you will provide the first point of contact for the ward for all enquires received from patients, relatives, Trust members and external agencies. To ensure the correct management of each enquiry.
You will support the clinical area by providing an administrative service ensuring all patient information regarding admissions and discharges from elective pathways are appropriately processed within Trust guidelines.
Job description
To provide an administration service to the inpatient area including:
maintaining accurate information and patient demographics within Trust PAS system referencing the Patient Reception Policy
Ensuring patients admissions and discharge times are electronically captured
To ensure all relevant documents are correctly inserted in patient notes and are updated before departure
To record on a real time basis, admissions, discharges, transfers and details on the Trust computer system, eg, IPM, VTE
To receive patient records on the IPM system and track any movement
To arrange for transport, in relation to the admission and discharge of patients, in accordance with established procedures as required.
