Job summary
The post holder will be working as part of the clinical skills team teaching and assessing multiple clinical / procedural skills to groups of medical students and postgraduate multidisciplinary client groups both internal and external to UHCW NHS Trust.

Main duties of the job
The role requires the post holder to work autonomously and flexibly with a high level of skill and concentration, responding as appropriate to unpredicted issues often within very tight deadlines to meet curriculum and service needs.
The post holder will be required to motivate and encourage collaborative working to support quality improvement and adherence to local and national standards of practice.
Job description
- Participate in the development, implementation and delivery of competency based clinical education and assessment to a wide range of candidates including medical students, nurses, post graduate doctors and allied healthcare professionals in the simulated environment.
- Plan and co-ordinate the day-to-day activities of the clinical skills suite using a range of manikins, medical equipment, IT and audio-visual systems. Prepare and set up equipment when needed such as manikins, beds, couches, tables and chairs.
- Take / facilitate appropriate action as a result of complex clinical or non-clinical issues, supporting staff and candidates at all levels which may include debriefing and action planning.
- Assist with the update of lesson plans, assessment tools and teaching resources as required
- To act as a role model, utilising every opportunity to enhance the knowledge of others in relation to clinical skills and to promote health and safety and risk assessment.
- Deliver practical teaching sessions to candidates adhering to guidance from the GMC document Practical skills and procedures, including multiple clinical skills such as wound care, urinary catheterisation, injection techniques - training will be given.
- Be able to organise, teach, facilitate & evaluate post graduate clinical skills courses for all levels of medical and non-medical professionals.
- Undertake training to become an OSCE examiner for Warwick Medical Schools Year 1, Year 2 and Final Year examinations.
- Participate in the writing of stations, along with standard setting and troubleshooting for OSCEs and other assessments of clinical skills
- Respond flexibly to the growing needs of the medical student curriculum in accordance with GMC recommendations.
- Develop personally as a First Aid instructor / Acute Illness management (AIM) and AIM Train the trainer faculty member/ course coordinator.
- Assist in the development of learning materials including handouts and more innovative materials such as e-learning, videos and interactive teaching materials.
- To liaise, engage and collaborate with all members of the wider medical education teams such as Simulation department, Resuscitation training department, George Eliot and Warwick hospital clinical skills teams as well as post graduate faculty and Warwick Medical School for example.
