Job summary
The Coastal Partnership have restructured and are looking for an experienced Practice Manager to lead their Coastal Villages Practice. This is an exciting position with the chance to really make the role your own, with the support of an experienced Operations Manager and a Senior Clinical Lead, and a wider Head Office team.
Main duties of the job
Your role will be to lead the practice, overseeing all aspects from service delivery, HR management, operational and strategic elements, through to the finer elements of significant events investigations, representing the practice with the PCN and wider system.
You have a wider team of more than 50, including Patient Services, Nurses, ACPs and GPs to lead across 4 sites (Martham / Ormesby / Hemsby and North Caister).
This role, along with the Beechcroft and Old Palace PM role, have been created to lead the individual practices, to provide the local agility and autonomy required in this ever-changing health system. You will have experience within General Practice and understand the intricacies of team, patient and service management.
The Partnership is dynamic, forward thinking and constantly striving to improve patient services. The Head Office team, led by an experienced Executive Manager, has a wealth of specialist knowledge and will support you to succeed.
Job description
Purpose of the RoleThe Practice Manager is responsible for the strategic, financial, workforce and organisational leadership of the practice. The post holder will work with GP Partners, senior clinical leaders and the management team to ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, sustainable and financially viable primary care services.
The Practice Manager will provide leadership across all clinical and non-clinical functions, ensuring the practice meets contractual, regulatory and organisational requirements whilst driving continuous improvement and transformation.

Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership
- Work with the Executive Manager to develop and deliver the practice strategy.
- Support partners in achieving organisational objectives.
- Lead transformational change programmes.
- Develop business cases and service development opportunities.
- Long-term sustainability planning
- Local contract management
Financial Management
- Manage staffing budgets and workforce expenditure.
- Monitor performance against budgets and financial plans.
- Identify opportunities for income generation.
- Support achievement of QOF, Enhanced Services and local contract targets.
- Produce financial and performance reports for Executive Manager and Partners.
- Work with Corporate Services Manager on cost improvement programmes
Clinical and Workforce Management
- Provide overall management oversight of clinical staff.
- Support clinical leaders in workforce planning.
- Lead Practice workforce strategy and succession planning.
- Develop staff wellbeing, engagement and retention initiatives.
- Oversee HR management processes.
- Manage complex employee relations matters.
- Retention strategy
- Work with Executive Manager on organisational development
- Co-ordinate GP trainees and Foundation Year doctors across Coastal sites, working with HR support.
Governance and Risk Management
- Senior Responsible Officer for complaints and lead complaints management processes.
- Oversee Significant Incident (SI) and RADAR investigations and resolution.
- Feed into Partnership risk register and take accountability for identifying and mitigating local practice risks.
- Ensure compliance with NHS regulations and contractual requirements.
- Work with Performance and Shared Services Manager to ensure CQC compliance and lead non-clinical CQC preparation and audit activity.
- Oversee Information Governance and Data Protection compliance.
- Deputise for Senior Information Risk Owner as required.
- Work with Compliance Officer to:
- ensure Data Security and Protection Toolkit oversight
- act as local practice Information Governance Lead
- maintain local GDPR compliance oversight
- maintain local Cyber security governance
Performance and Quality
- Lead practice performance analysis and reporting.
- Monitor operational, financial and clinical performance indicators.
- Ensure delivery of contractual targets and quality standards.
- Work closely with PCN to optimise practice representation at local neighbourhood level.
Policy and Compliance
- Develop and maintain local practice policies.
- Ensure employment policies are compliant and implemented.
- Maintain governance frameworks and assurance systems.
- Ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
Business Continuity and Emergency Preparedness
- Maintain and regularly test business continuity plans.
- Lead emergency preparedness arrangements.
- Reporting to Executive Manager, coordinate local practice responses to major incidents.
- Ensure resilience planning is in place.
External Relationships
- Represent the practice at PCN, ICB, commissioner and stakeholder meetings.
- Build effective relationships with community services, acute trusts and partner organisations.
- Develop collaborative working opportunities.
- Support contract negotiations and partnership working.
Transformation and Innovation
- Lead digital transformation initiatives.
- Support implementation of NHS national priorities.
- Drive service modernisation programmes.
- Promote innovation and efficiency improvements.
