Job summary
The Senior HCA /Senior Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) is part of the multidisciplinary team delivering care to patients. Support and supervision is provided by a Registered Professional.
The Senior HCA / Senior Healthcare Support Worker carries out a range of patient care tasks and duties to enable the team to provide an effective and efficient service within Acute hospital settings.
To achieve this, the Senior HCA/ Senior Healthcare Support Worker will:o Competently perform the necessary aspects of care for patientso Ensure effective delivery of clinical care is provided to patients and that an acceptable standard is maintained.o Follow Trust policies and provide a safe and person-centred environment for the treatment of patients.o Participate in personal and practice development activities to maintain standards of care.

Main duties of the job
o Assist patients with activities of daily living. This will typically include all basic care including the feeding, bathing and repositioning of the patient under the supervision of a trained Professional.
o Provide support to the registered professional and, where appropriate, other members of the Clinical Team as required.
o To co-operate with and maintain good relationships with team colleagues and staff in other disciplines that are attending and treating clients to maximise patient care.
o Maintain good relationships and an empathic approach to the patient's' family, relatives and carers and refer them to a trained professional for any questions they may have on the client's condition or for any suggestions or complaints that they wish to raise.
o Report observed changes in the patient's physical and psychological needs.
Job description
Working as aPaediatricEmergencyHealth Care Assistantyou will be involved in the assessment and treatment ofchildren and young people from the age 0-16.You will workalongsidePaediatric Emergency Nurses and be a key member of the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring excellent clinical care is delivered to all patients, and developing your own clinical experience and competence.
Clinical dutiesinclude:
- Assistingwithtriage assessments.
- Observations and recording of Paediatric Early Warning Signs (PEWS).
- Emergency procedure such as wound care, dressings, Plaster of Paris,Venepunctureand cannulation(following relevant training).
- To be familiar with all equipment used in ED, how to check it and report any issue.
- Carry out safety checks within the department and know how to report any issues.
- Identifyany concerns relating to clinical care and report to the NurseInCharge.
- Ensure the safety and cleanliness of the department.
- Tomaintaineffective channels of communication with patients, relatives and all staff involved in providing care.
Educational duties include:
- To achieve competence as set out in agreed learning outcomes.
- Support junior members of the team.
- Keepup-to-datewith all trust mandatory training.
- Provide effective health promotion for patients, familymembersand carers.
Professional duties include:
- Practices in accordance Trust, professional and statutory rules, codes,policiesand guidelines.
- To work towards the corporateobjectivesof the Trust.
- Toparticipatein the use of IT systems.
- Toparticipatein rotation of shifts as per the trust E-rostering policy.
- Toparticipatein performance review and toidentifya professional development plan.
- To pursue personal development in relation to Professional scope.
- Participate the toe Safeguarding on Children and Young People andact as an advocate at all times.
