Job summary
Applications are invited from experienced nursing, pharmacy and allied health professionals who would like to develop their career in an exciting direction to train as Advanced Clinical Practitioner in Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy. The applicant will work within the lung cancer team seeing new patients and reviewing existing patients on SACT. The postholder will also support the assessment unit and the inpatient ward reviewing patients who are unwell due to their malignancy or systemic treatment.
The post will be based at James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, but will support the "hub and spoke" network of oncology services in neighbouring Trusts.

Main duties of the job
The Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) will use specialist knowledge and skills to provide healthcare autonomously to patients within their sphere of practice. The ACP is accountable for independent clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients diagnosed with cancer, monitoring their systemic treatment (cytotoxic chemotherapy, immunotherapy and other directed treatment), assessing and treating complications of treatment and also the cancer itself. In addition to this the ACP is also responsible for appropriately referring patients to relevant specialties for any necessary inpatient or outpatient investigations.
