Job summary
We are excited to be recruiting a part-time (0.8 wte) Band 6 Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our Exeter and East Devon, Moods, Emotions, and Relationships (MERS/CAMHS) Pathway within Children and Family Health Devon.
We are keen to hear from professionals interested in working with young people struggling with mood, emotions, and relationships.
This role is offered as a fixed term contract until the end of March 2027. A Secondment would be considered, with approval from your line manager.
Main duties of the job
You will provide specialist assessment, formulation, triage, screening and intervention for young people experiencing a range of moderate to severe mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, self-harm, and emotional dysregulation. You will play a key role in delivering evidence-based, person-centred care to young people and their families/carers, working collaboratively within a team to provide early and effective intervention.
The post holder will deliver high quality comprehensive mental health services. The role involves managing a defined caseload with a focus on providing expert assessment, formulation and evidence-based treatment for children and young people with complex mental health difficulties and their parents/carers in line with NICE guidance. Collaborative working with a wide range of statutory and non-statutory agencies is central to this role.
The post holder will contribute to the multi-disciplinary approach of the team, providing integrated healthcare for children across Children and Family Health Devon. The post holder will bring professional expertise, skills and knowledge to multi-disciplinary team work.
With a focus on providing high quality, safe and compassionate care to children/young people the post holder will engage in team and service development including participating in audit, evaluation and review.

In this pathway, Senior Mental Health Practitioners work within a strong multi-disciplinary team, providing assessments and therapy to children with severe, chronic and enduring mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety-based disorders and Trauma.
You would work with children, young people and families to understand their experiences and presenting concerns in order to provide an appropriate evidence-based intervention and work closely with other agencies to support the best outcomes.
