About New Leaf

New Leaf is part of Devon Partnership NHS Trusts Vocational Rehabilitation Service. Our service has been developed from delivering many years of therapy, training and supported employment to adults living with a mental health condition who are working towards paid employment now or in the future. Set in a rural environment near Exeter overlooking Exminster and the Exe Estuary. New Leaf offers an opportunity for people to test themselves outside a medical environment, and develop themselves as a"person not a patient"within its different businesses.

Woodworks

Wood Works offers a wide range of supported learning opportunities in a well-equipped, commercial, workshop environment run by our experienced instructor.

Working with wood provides people with the opportunity to build skills using a variety of tools and machinery. It can also support people in their recovery through enhancing concentration, planning, and productivity. As peoples' ability and creativity develop, they are able to help produce a range of products for the commercial market. With the support of the staff, people are able to work towards achieving their vocational aspirations

Main duties of the job

We're looking for up to 3 volunteers to volunteer either Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.

Key tasks:

  • Contribute to planning of daily activities linked to individuals goals
  • To participate in practical tasks such as preparation of materials to support tasks and projects
  • Work with the Technical Instructor support individuals requiring additional support
  • Contribute to development of woodworks
  • To work alongside colleagues and potentially service users during the day
  • To be aware of health and safety and contribute to the maintenance of a safe working environment.
