Job summary
Our well established rural GP practice, caring for a list size of around 7,500 patients, is seeking an experienced and motivated fulltime Practice Manager to lead our dedicated clinical and administrative teams. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident, capable leader who thrives in a varied role and values the unique strengths of a small, community centred practice.
The successful candidate will oversee daytoday operations, support strategic development, and ensure the smooth delivery of highquality patient care. Effective communication skills, sound judgement, and a collaborative approach are essential. Experience of managing a practice in primary care is highly desirable, and we welcome applicants who bring both operational expertise and a genuine commitment to supporting our team and patients.

Main duties of the job
Key responsibilities to include:
Strategic management & Leadership Contribute to strategy, business planning, and service development. Identify risks, opportunities and income streams. Monitor performance and lead change. Represent the practice at ICB/PCN level.
Financial management - Manage all practice finances, oversee income and expenditure including enhanced services. Prepare annual accounts for accountants, liaise with ICB and other payment agencies.
Human resources Lead recruitment, retention and workforce planning. Oversee contracts and HR compliance, manage appraisals, training and staff development.
Organisational and Governance Ensure compliance with contracts, QOF, PCN and CQC regulations. Maintain policies and business continuity plans, oversee health and safety, infection control and CQC readiness.
Patient services ensure high quality, accessible services, manage complaints and significant events.
IT and Information Governance oversee clinical systems (TPP SystmOne). Ensure GDPR and data protection compliance.

About us
We are a rural practice in West Berkshire caring for around 7,500 patients. We have three GP Partners, three salaried GPs and a full complement of practice nurses and healthcare assistants. Our clinicians are well supported by a team of additional roles including an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Social Prescriber, Mental Health Practitioner, Musculoskeletal Therapist and Pharmacy Technician as well as an excellent administration and care navigation team.
