Help shape safer care at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Patient Safety Partners (PSPs) are an important and evolving role developed by NHS England to ensure that the voices of patients, carers and communities are at the heart of patient safety and improvement.

Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit three PSPs to join our growing team. Working alongside staff, patients, service users and families, you will play an active role in influencing, challenging and improving the safety and quality of care across our services.

As a PSP, you will bring a valuable independent perspective and help ensure that decisions about patient safety are informed by the experiences and needs of those who use NHS services.

We welcome applications from people with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences,including:

Patients and former patients

Carers and family members

Service users

Members of the public with an interest in healthcare improvement

NHS staff from other organisations

We are currently seeking three PSPs to support the following areas:

PSP clinical governance and compliance

PSP nursing quality and medicines optimisation

PSP research and development

Main duties of the job

Depending on the role, you may:

Contribute to committees, meetings and quality improvement work

Provide a patient and public perspective on patient safety initiatives

Review policies, reports and improvement plans

Support the development of safer services and better patient experiences

Act as a critical friend, offering constructive challenge and feedback

What we're looking for

Are confident sharing their views and experiences

Can contribute positively to discussions and decision-making

No professional healthcare qualification or experience is required. Support and induction will be provided by the Trusts Voluntary Services team.
