Job summary
You are responsible for reviewing and maintaining stock lines, providing structured feedback and support to colleagues around dispensing errors and near misses and (on successful completion of ACT modules) accuracy checking prescriptions. Accuracy Checking Technicians are expected to support, coach and delegate work to the dispenser and stores teams where appropriate and support the pharmacist team in delivering a safe and effective pharmacy service.
As a registered professional, you will be expected to engage regularly in non-routine tasks, as well as contributing to regulatory documents, provide training for peers and make professional decisions in the best interests of both the patient and the business.
Main duties of the job
Duties
- Technical accuracy checking of prescriptions prioritising workload accordingly.
- Monitoring daily dispensary workload, liaising with the Responsible Pharmacist to ensure it is managed effectively in a given timeframe.
- Analysis of processes within the dispensary to ensure efficiency and profit.
- Training of peers across all areas and levels.
- Assisting in any and all dispensary activities, where required.
- Expensive stock management managing orders of high cost lines to limit stock holding.
- Maintaining cleanliness of the workspace in line with GPhC standards
- Completing additional projects outside of the dispensary, delegated by the Pharmacy Manager or Management Team.
- Ensuring compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act and all other relevant legislation e.g. Medicines Act, Control of substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) etc.
- Consistently following Standard Operating Procedures, suggesting and amending (via QMS) improvements where necessary, and making consistent regulatory contributions.
- Attend study days and updating courses as are deemed necessary for the development of the dispensary and the individual.
- Undertake any further duties as required by the Pharmacy Manager.
