Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician Aseptic Services in Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust to join the Pharmacy Department at Pinderfields General Hospital. You will be responsible for supporting the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical services by undertaking a wide range of technical duties within the Pharmacy Department, with a primary focus on Aseptic Services. You will manage the preparation of sterile medicines in accordance with regulatory and quality standards, contribute to the safe and effective supply of medicines, and support inclusion on the Trust Intrathecal Register. You will work collaboratively with pharmacy colleagues and multidisciplinary teams to ensure an efficient pharmaceutical service is provided to patients, wards, departments, and external healthcare organisations while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and care.

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining high professional standards and representing the Trust positively through your conduct, appearance, and approach to your role. You will support a respectful and inclusive working environment by building courteous relationships with colleagues and treating everyone with fairness, dignity, and respect. You will ensure patient privacy, confidentiality, and individual needs are always considered while carrying out your duties, demonstrating behaviours that align with Trust values and promote public confidence in the service.
Job description
TO carry out complex technical pharmacy processes with a high level of accuracy, including detailed calculations, documentation checks, and quality assurance activities to support safe preparation workflows.
TO maintain required specialist competencies for aseptic practice, supporting compliance with validation standards, controlled environment procedures, and safe handling requirements for specialist medicines.
TO process medication requests and prescriptions accurately, maintaining complete records, supporting stock control processes, and ensuring medicines information is recorded through appropriate systems.
TO undertake specialist dispensing activities involving clinical trials, unlicensed medicines, chemotherapy-related products, and emergency supplies while adhering to defined procedures and documentation requirements.
TO contribute to workforce development by assisting with the training, guidance, and supervision of pharmacy staff, students, and colleagues while maintaining continued professional learning.
TO support the effective running of pharmacy services by identifying opportunities for improvement, using resources responsibly, complying with safety requirements, and contributing to risk reduction activities.
