The Regional Ophthalmology Programme in South-East Wales is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Consultant Ophthalmologist to provide clinical leadership for the Regional Ophthalmology Programme in South-East Wales.
The Regional Ophthalmology Programme in South-East Wales offers regional solutions for Eye Care across Aneurin Bevan, Cwm Taf Morgannwg and Cardiff & Vale Health Boards where this adds the most value to patients and staff. Regionalising Services ensures their sustainability and offers the best services to patients aligning with A Healthier Wales, The National Clinical Framework and Royal College of Ophthalmologists Clinical Guidance and best practice.
You will act as the strategic clinical lead for the programme with responsibility and authority for leading the clinical aspects of service development, ensuring the quality of the service, implementing service developments and supporting the negotiation of necessary funding and resources, and promoting a culture which is progressive, collaborative and innovative
Main duties of the job
This role is to provide Clinical Leadership and be accountable for Clinical Governance for the Regional Ophthalmology Programme in South East Wales. This role will work closely with the Programme Executive, Senior Responsible Officer and the Programme Manager in addition to and staff across all associated clinical disciplines in the region, including Clinical Representatives from Aneurin Bevan, Cardiff and Vale and Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Boards. This is a critical role within the programme to bring a strong Clinical voice and direction to the design and delivery of the programme across the region.
Job description
Providing clear Clinical Leadership for the programme
Developing strong two-way communication links with all clinical colleagues across the region, representing their views within the programme and sharing information about programme direction.
Working with Programme Executive and SRO to develop the strategy and forward plans.
Leading on Clinical Governance for the programme
Working with the Clinical Representatives from Aneurin Bevan, Cardiff and Vale and Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Boards to gain clear clinical consensus across the region.
Overseeing all of the clinical and patient safety elements of the programme and ensuring they are in line with evidence based best practice.
Leading on the co-creation of clinical pathways with clinical colleagues
Implement new, forward thinking and innovative ways to deliver services within the programme
Ensure all service designs offer optimal experiences for patients
Provide the main link for the programme with the Royal college of Ophthalmology and ensure links with other clinical bodies
Represent the programme on National level alongside the Senior Responsible Officer
Lead on third sector engagement on clinical matters.
Lead on the clinical elements of patient engagement.
Any other duties in line with the purpose of this role.
