Job summary

LNWUH NHS Trust has 3 Critical Care Units comprising of 42 beds across 3 sites. The 3 Units admit in excess of 2200 patients per year. Specialities include maxillo facial surgery, complex colorectal, renal, general medical and surgical patients, along with acute patients form our acute medical wards and accident and emergency department.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate, highly motivated, and proactive individual who supports the vision of our Trust to put quality at the heart of everything , and who wants to become part of the senior ICU team.

We are looking for a Senior Sister / Charge Nurse, who will support our Critical Care both at Northwick Park Hospital and supporting Critical Care across site, when required.

Candidates must embody and demonstrate the Trusts values, uphold the responsibilities of the job description and the person specification. Candidates should be able to demonstrate leadership skills and Advanced intensive Care skills in line with a Senior Staff / Team leader position.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties/ Responsibilities

Clinical:

As part of our commitment to patients and delivery of a high standard of care; the role involves a structured approach to ensuring that good quality care is delivered by putting the patient first always. Our culture and ways of working reflect and embed the practices of the Trust values at all times. You are expected, where identified, to attend and complete relevant training and development opportunities to support this.

Accountable for own actions in accordance with Code of Professional Conduct. Will contribute towards corporate objectives, acting within local, Trust and statutory guidelines and policies at all times.

Highly developed communication skills enabling maintenance of high quality service and ensuring timely management and resolution of unexpected events and situations.

Coordinate the care of critically ill patients through the critical care pathway to ensure the effective management of their patient group.

A resource for staff, advising on national, local and Trust policy and procedures/guidelines, ensuring that clinical governance is embedded in practice.

Responsible for identifying and assessing complex clinical and non-clinical issues, implementing resolutions and monitoring/auditing outcomes.

Ensure optimum patient management including; patient monitoring; equipment management and defined expanded clinical roles.
