Main duties of the job

As a Head of Maintenance at a Barchester care home, you'll ensure a clean and well-maintained environment, helping residents feel at home and supporting staff in their roles. Your main responsibilities will include a wide range of maintenance tasks within the care home building and its grounds. This role involves fixing various issues, such as a leaky tap, and undertaking gardening tasks like planting new bulbs. You'll work independently, lead a team, and assist the General Manager with budget planning. You'll also coordinate with contractors for tasks outside your team's expertise. Prioritizing residents' wellbeing, you'll be sensitive to their needs, ensuring all work aligns with that focus. Having hands-on property maintenance experience is essential, and you should possess at least one trade skill and ideally a diverse skill set for various maintenance tasks. Reliability, flexibility regarding working hours, and a full UK driving licence are necessary. Additionally, IT literacy and GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent) are required qualifications.
