Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a MSK Physiotherapist in Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust to join the MSK Physiotherapy Clinic at Hertford County Hospital, QE2 Hospital and Kingsway Health Centre. In this role, you will be responsible for providing specialist assessment, clinical diagnosis, and treatment for patients with complex needs. You will manage a varied caseload while delivering expert clinical care, supporting patients to achieve the best possible outcomes. You will also provide specialist advice, guidance, and information to healthcare professionals, carers, relatives, and other non-professionals, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, patient-centred care.
Main duties of the job
As a MSK Physiotherapist, you will be responsible for working autonomously, prioritising your workload, and making independent clinical decisions within your scope of practice. You will monitor and evaluate patient progress, adapting management plans where appropriate, while ensuring accurate, timely, and comprehensive clinical documentation is maintained in line with professional standards, Trust policies, and legal requirements.
Job description
- To perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of musculoskeletal patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological needs. To determine a clinical diagnosis and develop and deliver individualised treatment programmes. To keep and maintain clear and concise records of assessments, treatments and progress of all patients.
- To participate in evidence-based audit projects that evaluate clinical practice and service performance, contributing to the identification of opportunities for improvement. You will support the implementation of recommendations that enhance the quality and effectiveness of the physiotherapy service.
- To contribute to the development, review, and implementation of clinical protocols, pathways, and departmental procedures, ensuring they reflect current evidence and best practice. You will assist senior colleagues in embedding service improvements across the team.
- To identify opportunities to improve service delivery by sharing ideas and recommendations with senior physiotherapists. You will contribute to initiatives that promote innovation, efficiency, and continuous service development.
- To participate in departmental meetings, service planning activities, and professional discussions, contributing to the achievement of team objectives. You will support effective communication and collaborative working to help deliver an efficient physiotherapy service.
- To maintain compliance with Trust policies, professional standards, and clinical governance requirements, supporting a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement. You will contribute to ensuring services are delivered safely, effectively, and in accordance with organisational expectations.
