Job Title Salaried GP

Reports To Managing Partner

Job Summary

The Salaried GP will provide high-quality, patient-centred, safe and effective medical services to the registered practice population. The post holder will work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to deliver General Medical Services (GMS), support continuous quality improvement, contribute to clinical governance activities, and participate in the strategic development of the practice and Primary Care Network (PCN).

The role involves the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of patients presenting with a wide range of acute, chronic and preventative healthcare needs whilst maintaining the highest standards of clinical care in accordance with GMC guidance, NHS contractual requirements, and practice policies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

The Salaried GP will:

  • Provide comprehensive General Medical Services to registered and temporary patients through face-to-face, telephone, video and digital consultations.
  • Undertake home visits when clinically appropriate.
  • Assess, investigate, diagnose and manage patients presenting with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions.
  • Initiate, review and adjust treatment plans in line with clinical evidence and national guidelines.
  • Manage acute and chronic disease presentations.
  • Promote health, wellbeing, disease prevention and self-management.
  • Identify patients at risk of developing long-term conditions and support preventative interventions.
  • Develop personalised care plans with patients and carers.
  • Refer patients appropriately to secondary care, community services and other healthcare providers.
  • Prescribe safely and cost-effectively in accordance with local and national prescribing guidance.
  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and legally compliant clinical records.
  • Undertake safeguarding responsibilities for children and vulnerable adults in line with local safeguarding procedures.
  • Participate in palliative and end-of-life care delivery.
  • Support vaccination, screening and public health programmes.
  • Contribute to the achievement of Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF), Enhanced Services and local contractual requirements.

Multidisciplinary Team Working

The post holder will:

  • Work collaboratively with GPs, Nurses, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Pharmacists, Care Coordinators and administrative teams.
  • Provide advice and support to members of the wider primary care team.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings where appropriate.
  • Support the development and utilisation of skill mix across the practice and PCN.
  • Engage constructively with community, secondary care and voluntary sector colleagues.

Quality Improvement and Clinical Governance

The Salaried GP will:

  • Support and actively participate in clinical governance activities.
  • Participate in clinical audit, service evaluation and quality improvement projects.
  • Review and learn from significant events, complaints and clinical incidents.
  • Contribute to the identification and management of clinical risk.
  • Support compliance with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards.
  • Promote evidence-based practice throughout the organisation.
  • Participate in the development and review of clinical policies and protocols.
  • Contribute to business continuity and emergency planning arrangements.

Patient Safety and Risk Management

The post holder will:

  • Deliver care that promotes patient safety and quality outcomes.
  • Recognise and act on safeguarding concerns.
  • Report incidents, risks and near misses through established governance systems.
  • Support the investigation and learning from patient safety incidents.
  • Ensure professional practice complies with GMC Good Medical Practice standards.

Leadership and Service Development

The Salaried GP will:

  • Contribute to service redesign and innovation initiatives.
  • Support the practice's strategic objectives and vision.
  • Participate in meetings relevant to the role.
  • Provide clinical leadership where appropriate.
  • Support the training and development of clinical and non-clinical staff.
  • Act as a positive ambassador for Biddlestone Health Group.

Teaching and Professional Development

The post holder will:

  • Maintain professional knowledge and skills through continuous professional development (CPD).
  • Participate in annual appraisal and GMC revalidation requirements.
  • Support the education of medical students, trainee GPs and other healthcare professionals where applicable.
  • Engage with clinical supervision and peer review activities.

Information Governance and Confidentiality

The Salaried GP will:

  • Ensure compliance with UK GDPR, Data Protection legislation and NHS Confidentiality requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and secure patient records.
  • Adhere to practice policies regarding information governance and cyber security.
  • Support compliance with Freedom of Information and Access to Health Records requirements.
