Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and lead a dynamic programme at a pan-London footprint. The Life Sciences Hub manager will play a central role in working with the Greater London Authority (GLA) and connecting life science employers, educators, healthcare organisations and innovation partners. Together, we are helping to turn the sector's workforce priorities into practical action and creating clearer pathways into high-quality careers for Londoners. They will step in as a leader that will oversee a dynamic team of three to work collaboratively with life science clusters across London, such as Paddington Life Sciences, to deliver a programme that strengthens talent pipelines at scale and supports the continued success of this vital sector.

The Inclusive Talent Strategy is a vital early step in delivering the London Growth Plan. It aims to ensure that all Londoners can benefit from growth by building a skilled workforce and helping more people access high-quality jobs, while making it easier for employers to find the talent they need. This will involve working in partnership with employers, skills and employment providers, and government to make the system more responsive to London's economic needs, and make it easier for businesses to find talent.

Main duties of the job

The Life Sciences Hub Manager provides senior strategic leadership and oversight for the design, development and delivery of the Greater London Authority (GLA) Life Sciences Talent Board and Hub, a key component of the Inclusive Talent Strategy.

The post holder operates at a pan-London system level, working across NHS, academic, local authority, employer and community partners to shape and influence workforce strategy, policy development, and delivery models for the life sciences sector.

While specific targets and objectives will change, the key accountability areas for this post are:

  • Leading the development of a system-wide, multi-partner workforce talent model.
  • Translating national and regional policy into deliverable and sustainable programmes.
  • Exercising a high degree of autonomy to make complex, strategic decisions within broad organisational and system objectives.

The post holder will operate in a highly complex, politically sensitive environment, requiring:

  • Advanced judgement in the context of competing priorities and ambiguity.
  • Senior-level influencing across organisational boundaries.
  • Accountability for programme outcomes, governance, and resource utilisation across multiple stakeholders.
